There is so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Maybe the greatest gift of a challenging year is the new perspective on things we’ve been taking for granted all along. That perspective on just how grateful we are for the simplest of things, like time outdoors, meals with loved ones, and bike rides – why not? And as our community recovers from a tough year, we get ready to celebrate this Thanksgiving, hoping you can take a moment to do what you love and give back to our community. DC Bike Ride and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield invite you to share your bike ride with us in support of Dreaming Out Loud – a local nonprofit social enterprise using the food system to build community and opportunity.
TO MAKE YOUR BIKE RIDES COUNT, participants must 1- join the Pedal For A Purpose event and 2- follow the DC Bike Ride profile on Ride Spot. Before taking on your favorite route, 3- start recording your ride using the Ride Spot app and 4- save the ride as public. Your public rides will be listed on your Ride Spot profile and, as long as you follow the steps above, we will receive your cycling activity for the event period. *For indoor/stationary rides, please share a picture of your ride on social media. Tag @dcbikeride and use the #Pedal4Purpose2020. Your profile must be set as "public" so we can get a notification and view your post.
Make your rides double by completing the featured route of the day. Every day we will share a special route for double the donation. Routes will be published by 2 PM EST and will be available through 12 PM the next day. The Double Donation Route for Day 2 has just been updated. You can also find the route #Pedal4Purpose2020 - Rock Creek Loop at Kensington on our feed. Complete this route by noon tomorrow for double donations.
> Ride anywhere between November 23 (7 AM EST) and 30 (8 PM EST). > Rides must be at least 1 mile long to be counted. > We will like ♡ each ride to indicate that it has been counted as a donation. > You won't receive a notification that you have completed the event as you can ride anywhere. > Every Ride will be counted as 1 donation of $25 (exceptions apply). > Donations are limited to 4 rides per day per participant.
Dreaming Out Loud works to increasing access to healthy food and nutrition education at farmers’ markets, supporting community economic development, and equipping at-risk youth and adults with meaningful workforce skills and sustainable employment through urban agriculture.
