Story

Here we have a nice scenic ride starting in West Newton.

To start, ride through the Charles River Reservation with a mix of gravel and paved paths and cross the beautiful Blue Heron Bridge to ride through Watertown and Cambridge (Soldiers Field); here, you can stop to take a look at the Harvard, BU, and MIT boathouses, rowing crews, and the Harvard Stadium.

Stop at the BU Bridge to get a good view of Boston's downtown skyline and the Citgo sign.

While riding along, the Charles River flows on your left, where the Harvard and MIT campuses reside, and on your right, you'll see Boston University.
Keep riding east and cross the river over the beautiful Longfellow Bridge, the Salt and Pepper Bridge. Go down the ramp and ride Westward on the beautiful Esplanade up to the Harvard Bridge (Massachusetts Ave.). Make a U-turn and ride back on the Esplanade until you reach Charles Street in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, and end the ride at the beautiful Boston Gardens.

If you're visiting Boston without your bike, you can purchase a day pass to Blue Bikes, the area's public bike share system.
