Story

Salado Creek Greenway Loop 1604 Trailhead to Grissom Road Trailhead and Back
This 37-mile scenic ride along the Howard W. Park greenway Trails System can be done on a road, gravel, or mountain bike. The ride starts at the Salado Creek Greenway Loop 1604 Trailhead where there's plenty of parking, porta potties, water fountains and bike repair tools. After leaving the trailhead you go by Medicine Wall, a very popular natural rock-climbing wall.
The next spot is Eisenhower Park, then The RIM shopping mall, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas amusement park. After that you get to the Valero Trailhead where you can get water, go to the bathroom, fix your bike if necessary or just keep going. The next spot is OP Schnabel Park where you will enjoy the lush vegetation, the wildlife and the sense of riding in an isolated place instead of the middle of the city until you get to the Grissom Road Trailhead. There you can decide if you want to keep riding longer along the trail system, which almost loops the entire city, or get back to where you started. The trail system is paved but there are plenty of unpaved trails along the main trail that you can venture to for some added fun. The trail is safe, with plenty of riders, runners, walkers and trail stewards. Give it a try if you want to have some fun!
